Log Cabin Hat- Knitting Pattern

Description

The Log Cabin Hat began with an obsession for knitting the little Log Cabin Squares, a free pattern from Plied Yarn Co. Six squares are knitted individually then joined using a three needle bind off. Stitches are picked up for the top of the hat, which is worked in reverse stockinette and simple cables. Once the top of the hat is completed, stitches are picked up for the bottom of the hat.

The hat is knit with a heavy fingering/sport weight yarn. It is the perfect project for using up tiny bits of leftover yarn. I’m not going to lie, this is not a quick knit, but it’s so fun! Each square is like a little yarn painting and there’s so much room for colour creativity.

The log cabin hat pattern is written for sizes small, medium and large.
