Lady Luck

For a couple of years now I have been selling my winter hats at Lady Luck Boutique in the Hydrostone Market in Halifax. This year we decided to see how the summer hats would sell. Well, they have been flying out the door. There’s nothing more fun than getting a frantic message that more hats are needed quick and then two weeks later getting the same message again. On Saturday I woke up early and spent the whole day making hats for Lady Luck. Thank goodness it was pouring, so going outside wasn’t an option. On Sunday Tony and I took the rare trip together to Halifax and hand delivered the hats. I’m embarrassed to say it was my first trip to the shop. It is unbelievably beautiful. It is a real hat shop. They also carry a huge selection of Oh Dina fascinators. Nicole, who is the designer behind Oh Dina works at the shop a couple of days a week, so Lady Luck is the place to go to find her work. Although we have lived in Lunenburg for 5 years now and Halifax is just over an hour a way, we really don’t get there much. Honestly, I don’t leave my home much. If you saw Lunenburg you would know why. But, sometimes a trip to the city is just the thing and Halifax was so fun. The Hydrostone area was completely destroyed by the Halifax Explosion during the first world war. The houses were all rebuilt with concrete blocks, or what was then called Hydrostone. Anyways, it’s a beautiful little section of the city with wonderful shops and restaurants. Put it on your list. And hopefully you’ll get to it sooner than I did.
