A Perfect Weekend

I was a bit panicked that Dusty had no school for 4 days in a row, I had no plans to speak of and Tony really needed the time to work on our house, but the very long weekend turned out to be completely perfect. On Thursday afternoon Dusty had a little class show of various fairy tales. I think even if you weren’t a mom you would have to say it was totally adorable. Dusty was one of the three little pigs in “Les Trois Petits Cochons.” That may have been type cast. He stopped several times during the performance to wave at me or pull up his underpants, but he never forget his next line.

Friday evening we had a bonfire on the beach. Dusty’s first. We all gorged ourselves on Hotdogs, baked potatoes, marshmallows and music brought to us by our friend Michael. Not sure why it has taken us so long to do this, but we hope to make it a regular event.

Yesterday my friend Faye came with her two boys and we scootered around town and ate ice cream. Today Dusty’s new buddy came by. Holden is four, but he and Dusty seem to share a brain. They are both obsessed with super heroes and play peacefully for hours on end. Dusty tells Holden what his next line should be and Holden performs beautifully. Holden is as hysterically polite as Dusty and it almost seems like a contest as to who can out excuse me the other. At some point today I ended up with four children and really it was quite fun. Now Dusty is over at Holden’s house and there is peace in the land and a moment for Mama to blog.

I didn’t do a stitch of work all weekend, the weather was perfect and I just got to enjoy being a mom without the conflicts of running a business. Life doesn’t get better than this.

Looks like you had a just perfect day. Lovely. 🙂 Is that the Daisy Rose you're wearing at the bonfire? I still have my heart set on her…:)
