Straw Boater Hat- Betty Boater- Red- Made to Order

Description

Betty Boater is made from braided wheat straw and is sewn on my antique straw braid sewing machine. Wheat straw is very durable and turns golden as it is exposed to the sun. The band on the hat is made from hand dyed organic cotton and hemp and comes right off the hat, so that you can change up the colours as you desire, or you can even wear it alone as a headband.

The straw is tightly braided, so that the hat has excellent sun protection. The inner band is made from linen, so that the hat feels cool and soft next to your forehead.

Each hat is made to order and can be made to fit any head size. Two weeks is a comfortable time for me to make your hat, but please let me know if you are in a rush and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.

To measure your head, take a soft tape measure and measure just above the eyebrows, above the tips of the ears and around the largest part of the back of your head. Try to not let the tape measure swoop down towards your neck. If you don’t have a soft tape measure you can use a string and then carefully measure the string. Repeat this a few times to be sure that you keep getting the same number.
