Scrappy Charlotte- for a 23″ head size

The Scrappy Charlotte hat is the joyful result of an ever growing fabric scrap pile.
It is made from beautiful locally handwoven wool fabric and lined with silk.
This particular brim is wavy, but it can also be made with a flipped up brim. The hat can be worn in the wind and the rain.

I can make this style hat in any size. This particular one will fit a 23″ head size (slightly above medium).

The Scrappy Charlotte hat is my way of keeping textile waste out of landfill. When fabrics are cut to create garments or accessories, in the fashion industry, a large percentage of the fabric is thrown away. Working to piece together small off cuts of fabric takes time, but creating beauty while respecting our planet is time well spent.

To measure your head, take a soft tape measure and measure just above the eyebrows, above the tips of the ears and around the largest part of the back of your head. Try to not let the tape measure swoop down towards your neck. If you don’t have a soft tape measure you can use a string and then carefully measure the string. Repeat this a few times to be sure that you keep getting the same number.
