A Life of Flowers and a Class to Celebrate it.

As I approach one more rotation around the sun, it occurs to me that I have spent so much of it in the creation of fabric flowers. One of my earliest childhood memories is picking dandelions on the hillside of a busy Montreal street, certain that I had discovered gold. Seeing that yellow hill was one of my first experiences of awe. Now, as I look at my studio wall…..

or scroll through photos of beautiful customers, the overarching theme is always flowers. Flowers are my faith. I believe in flowers. No matter what turbulence life brings us there will always be flowers to remind us that beauty always returns, to help us breathe, to connect us, to take us out of ourselves. Flowers will always find their way through the cracks in the pavement.

My summers in Nova Scotia are best celebrated at Chicory Blue General Store where you can enjoy your lunch enveloped by Echinacea.

Winter is the time where I snip into pretty pieces of wool felt with memories of those flowers to inspire me. If you live nearby, I hope you’ll join me for an afternoon of making felt flowers. We can turn the flowers into a brooch or a hair clip, or we could turn them into a tie for your curtains. The goal is bringing flowers to a winter’s day. The date of the class happens to be my birthday. When I realized this was the best date for a January workshop I had a moment of questioning whether I wanted to work on my birthday, but I really couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than sitting around my kitchen table with a group of local ladies (gentlemen are most welcome) creating pretty flower sprays. Hope you can join me. Just click on the photo above to sign up. If you aren’t local to me (that would be most of you), I am working on developing a video tutorial to make this flower spray, so stay tuned for that. Happy New Year, Everyone. Thanks for spending a bit of time with me. Anna
