Exploring Nova Scotia and Natural Dyeing

Happy late August to you all. I must say, I have been squeezing every ounce of summer out of 2021. If this pandemic has taught us anything it is that sometimes you have to slow the clock down. I made a little video for you. The first part is a little glimpse of my local life and then I ramble on about hats and my latest adventure down a new rabbit hole. If it gets too rambly for you, please fast forward to the last two minutes because that’s where I show you a bit of our trip to Tatamagouche. Nova Scotia is just so darn beautiful and the diversity of our landscape is truly amazing. Because this is video making thing is pretty home spun, you’ll have to raise the volume when I chat with you. (I’ll work on that.) Hope you are all enjoying this summer. With Love, Anna

    Hi Anna,

Thank you for sharing your summer with us. I enjoyed every minute of it. I can’t wait to see what other colours of yarn you dye and I am drooling over the hats you showed us. Will be heading over to your internet store for a closer look.

    Best wishes to you,

    Carol Collins

This was a lovely peek into your life, Anna. Thank you. Your yarns are beautiful and when you spoke of indigo, I wonder, do you know of Maiwa on Granville Island? They offer courses, supplies, and of course, fabrics and clothing – a lot of indigo. Too, when I listen to you talk about your love of this slow, hand made process by which you create and live, the book I am currently reading, Sharon Blackie’s If Women Rose Rooted, comes to mind. I love NS and appreciate seeing some of it via your video. It’s been too long…Kindest regards.

Hi Katherine, Thanks for your comment. Yes, I know of Maiwa. I actually just ordered some indigo and madder from them. I’ll check out the book recommendation. Best, Anna

Hi Anna, I chatted with you briefly at the L’burg market this morning (26th) and found your talent for hat making very exciting. Loved your Blog and your sense of humour, life is a joy for you and it is evident. I’ll continue to check in and see what is new!
