Introducing Betty Bucket

This is not your daughter’s bucket hat. That was the line that popped into my head when I stepped back to admire my new design. Not sure if my free form association translates outside the parameters of my own mind, so I’ll elaborate. I’m constantly seeing the line, “The is not your grandmother’s (insert noun here). And what, pray tell, is wrong with your grandmother’s (insert noun here)? The way I see it, Grandma had style and was not afraid to show it. Grandma had undervalued talents and grandma deserves respect for her unabashed love of beauty and her skills in the domestic arts. This is not your daughter’s bucket hat, but it is a sophisticated version of the much loved classic camp hat.

The Betty Bucket hat is made from hand dyed cotton canvas. It is designed for ruggedness. She makes a wonderful travel hat, so if you have plans for sipping Pina Coladas pool side, please consider bringing her along. Send photos, so that I can vicariously glory in your warmth. Actually, the way the brim comes to a point in the back is specifically designed for lounging. It’s also a wonderful feature for wearing with a jacket. The brim is 3 inches wide, so it offers plenty of sun protection. The brim also has a lot of structure, so it can easily be turned up. For whatever it’s worth, I would also like to see Betty Bucket go to knitting camp or a writer’s retreat. Just putting that out there.

If heading south is not in your future, the violet version will create a warmth of its own. Aside from the colours shown, it is also available in this green…..

So, if you would like a green one just order one of the other colours and leave me a note. I will also be making them in teal and in black.

Right now I’m deep in design mode. ( A very happy place.) I have some other cuties waiting to make their debuts. But with travel season upon us, Betty Bucket had to come into the world first. Take Good Care.
