My New Headbands

Top knot headband in red

Hello there, I just wanted to quickly pop in and let you know about my newest addition to my headband family. They are for sale HERE.

As with most of my designs, it was born out of personal need. Since cutting off my hair I have not felt like wearing my Madeline headbands on a daily basis. I still love them, but I was craving something a bit simpler. Not wearing something in my hair made me feel a bit like an imposter. I can’t actually remember a time in my life where I didn’t have some sort of head adornment going on. I also find that as much as I love grey (good thing) I feel it needs a bit of an accent colour. All these factors led me to my new top knot headband.

I have mostly used linen, but there are a couple for sale in other fabrics. I have one of each in stock and I set the quantities available for the amount of fabric that I have in each colour. Mostly 2 or 3 per colour. I’m trying to be a responsible grown up citizen of the earth and use what I actually have in my studio, but every ounce of my being is wanting to order more linen and dye up a new batch of beautiful colours. So, if you like these and take them home you can be sure that I will immediately go fabric shopping in order to make more.

As for comfort, well, Tony often uses the tale of the Princess and the Pea to describe my need for everything to feel perfect. I originally thought I’d mount these on a wire or plastic headband, but the truth is I don’t like the pressure those headbands put on my temples. I instead made a gathered thin elastic casing on the underside of the headband. Some of the headbands are made from heavier fabrics, so for those ones, I have sewn tiny squares of soft fabric where the fabric touches the ears. Because….Princess and the pea.

I hope you love these as much as I do. I haven’t taken mine off in a couple of weeks.
